Astronomers May Have Been Underestimating The Number Of Stars In The Universe By A Factor Of Three

By filtering out the light from bright stars, astronomers have detected the faint signature of small dim red dwarf stars in nearby elliptical galaxies. The researchers found that these dim red dwarf stars are much more numerous in the elliptical galaxies than in our Milky Way Galaxy. These finding implicate that there could be about three times as many stars more in The Universe than was previously believed.
